Title: Air cleaner gasket
Post by: john428 on May 14, 2018, 12:50:46 PM
Does anyone know how to attach the foam air cleaner seal to the hood on the 69/70 GT 500?
also I need some recommendations on where to get the factory water pump restored
Thanks in advance

First confirm that you have the proper shorter foam seal compared to the taller GT350 and then use contact adhesive to adhere to the bottom side of hood . Brush on both surfaces then wait a couple minutes for it to tack up before you stick it together. Yellow is what they typically used however not much if any showed unlike the other areas on the car it was used at.

Bob,
Is there a template available to show were to locate foam ring attaches to the underside of hood or do you just eye ball it?  Just curious since my new hood never had one attached to it before.
Thanks
Nils

There is no template that I have ever been aware of. I and others typically eyeball it. You could always put some pieces of clay along the air cleaner rim (which is what the foam is supposed to seal against) and carefully close the hood. The clay outline will give you a idea of where to place it . I typically center it.
