Title: New Fuel Tank - Paint??
Post by: kowalski on April 09, 2018, 08:38:49 PM
Hi all,
I've just bought a new repro fuel tank for my 65.
As I drive this car a lot, I was wondering if I should give it a coat of satin clear paint to maintain it.
Thoughts??

don't think it is needed. i would consider something like boeshield protectant if you just have to put something on it.

I satin cleared my new tank, and after 10 years, it held up fine.  At the time I painted it, I did not know about Boeshield T9.

If its new it should have a protective coating/plating. I would go with the boeshield or something similar

I did not paint or coat my tank.  It still looks new after five years. Actually it looks perfect. Spectra was the brand.  Made in Canada.
