Title: Fastback trunk lids
Post by: J_Speegle on April 06, 2018, 08:01:23 PM
Though this may be a detail know by many thought I would post this picture I did for a member showing the difference between what is typically referred to as the 65 and 66 versions.  As the thread expands I expect to cover the multiple versions of the trunk torsion spring, hinge and arm differences

Good stuff!

Looking forward to learning more.

I only have a 65 coupe trunk lid so can't contribute to the topic... :(

My two Fastbacks. The 65 lid is not original to the car (5R09A219xxx), but its date code (lower RH corner when opened) is 10 6 3C. The 66 lid is original to the car (6R09K121xxx) date code 7 12 C2, "early" for an Oct 18, 65 build. The date codes are what matters.

One would expect and hope that the physical features would match the date codes ;)  and that the features match the production period

We'll see what we can find

The Oct 6, 1964 trunk lid picture was intended to show the internal structure of the lid for its build period. The car's scheduled date was May 11, 1965, which in this case, does not apply to the lid. I also included the location of the lids' date codes so others can find and include them for research purposes.
