Title: 64 1/2 K code Lower Control Arm to Body Hardware
Post by: FXguy on November 28, 2016, 11:17:00 PM
My original lower control arm nuts and bolts were recently plated.  I was putting them back together and noticed that the nuts are jamming when the bolt is about 3/4 the way through the nut.  It's been a long time, so I can't recall for sure if these nuts jammed like this before plating or not.  Anyone know if these things are supposed to jam like this?  They have split/lock washers like on other non K code cars of the same era, so it seems odd that the nuts would be designed to jam AND also have lock washers.

Thanks,

-Scott

No they are not supposed to jam when new.

Agreed not designed or meant to jamb. Time to check the threads on both the stud and nut. Guess stud by your description

Thanks gentlemen.  I think the plate is a little rough in threads.  Hit the bolt threads with a wire wheel and similarly in the nut and it goes on freely.
