Title: 1966 heads: C6oe vs C6ae
Post by: 65fastbk on August 21, 2016, 05:22:14 PM
Hi,

I have a SJ built A code that I was looking for heads for.

Block: C5AE-6015E 6A5
Engine was assembled on 6A11

I found a set of heads dated 5M1 than might be a match, they are C6oe heads.  He also has other heads but C6ae that I'm unsure of the dates.

What are the differences between those casting besides coming from different foundries.  Which casting would be correct for my car, or does it not really matter?  Is one better then the other?

Thanks!

Mark

Mark,
I find references to head castings part numbers of C6DE-G, C6OE-C, C6OE-E and C6OE-M (smog) but no casting C6AE-. There is a casting C5AE-E for 289 HP engines, and a C4AE-C for early 289. In the May, 75 MPC, replacement heads have service part numbers with the "A", C6AZ-6049-AG, but that is a tag or box number. The actual casting number is different. Back to the drawing board.

Hi,

Yeah I wasn't sure about it until he sent me some pics, I have attached one, I think its a C6?  The other side had WF on it, I'm guessing for Windsor Foundry.

Thanks
