Title: '66 quarter panel drain location vs. '67
Post by: socalgt on August 15, 2016, 06:53:13 PM
Am I correct that '66 quarter panel drains were on the bottom of the actual quarter panel, as opposed to the '67 having it mounted vertically, in the small square hole in the trunk drop off panel?

That's my understanding.  The trunk drop-off panels that were advertised for 65/66's were actually 67's; at least back in 2003 when I did the replacement on my 66.

Yes and a common mistake when owners and shops start replacing panels with aftermarket. Sometimes you see two drains other times no drains   ::)

Well, You can always drill the drain holes in the correct locations if they are not there!  ...Using a Step-Up Drill bit.  Works like a charm..

Someone replaced the rear drop-outs on my '65 vert, so that's what I had to do...  ;0)

On a 65-66 would thought it would be tricky to cut the oval hole correctly as originally done. On a 67 the square hole is tough unless you can find a pretty small square punch

Also, Don't forget the two other holes on the inner sides of the inner drop out panels....which are also on the both sides of the car..  Thought I think they are drains, They are more like access holes to clear out debris..

Little high up on the inner trunk floor to be used as drains and small for cleaning out things.  Much easier to open the trunk ;)
