Thank You Jeff! I see the one pic where the Anti backfire valve vac line that runs from the drivers side over to the passenger side manifold- I had never seen another example of that before. The bends in the line are of particular interest to me, as I have the orginal line for mine, but it was bent way out of shape, though I could see some of the original bends still in place.
I wonder how rare the 6 cyl Thermactor actually is? Or, rather , 6 cyl cars that have a functioning thermactor system still in place.
These pics that you have shared here since I got my San Jose 18K 65 build have helped me a lot in trying to determine how to go about some of my engine refresh.
I would love to get ahold of that that indexing washer that helps hold the air pump to the bracket, near the thermactor pulley on the front side of the pump. I bet that is a rare find.

Maybe not as rare as you think ;) I just recently had a 67 straight six thermactor system and that washer looks like it might be the same as the v-8 version.
Maybe you could research a little bit and cross reference engineering numbers to confirm first, but if it is the same, I believe AMK sells them.

I would be interested in a complete thermactor set for my CA car, but looks like it's very difficult to find one..!!
Some parts can be found, but complete set-up cant be tough to get.
I know price will go up, but if I could find it, I will consider.
Guess a huge quantity of cars were sold in CA, and many of them dismantled the Thermactor system so, where are all of them..? ;)

Not very if the car has the right DSO. Would guess that there are fewer 6 cylinders that came with the system with them removed compared to the V8. Its just that those that get to view most of the Mustangs only at shows and the internet see less since they are less popular to restore and have as a hobby or club car
Also agree that the indexing washer is likely exactly the same and it was used in later years also - opening other possibilities

Well sort of. First there are less people saving and collecting them since there is little call for them. Often they are donor systems for V8s or simply tossed or not removed when found. Typically 6 cylinder parts in general are 10-25% of what the same V8 part is - even NOS parts. Have purchased V8 radiator hoses in the over $300 range (seen them out there up to $600) and have purchased 6 cylinder ones for $20. Just depends on how much you impress to the seller that you really need have to find, I've been looking everywhere and how much they choose to capitalize on that or an accent ::)
Where most of these pictures were taken I would guess that you could have purchased the system for a very reasonable price. Of course a digger out in the yard looking to resale will/should be looking to at least double his dollar or more considering how much effort it took to remove and how complete. Think the challenge is finding one for sale rather than the price.

Try all of the cars sold in CA about 20-23% of total production) were required to have the system. As I wrote above I would guess that more 6 cylinders today have the system in place than V8 cars that came with them originally
