So I am about to replace the water pump on my car. Although I am not too concerned with correctness on the replacement, I don't want to throw out the old one if it something that is original and hard to find. So...
How can I id an original water pump? Part number? Date codes? Stamps etc?
If it's just a repop it goes in trash

There should be an engineering number, C5OE-8505-C. Date code should be for your car a 64 in circle with dots indicating the month. I think probably around August or so depending on when the engine was assembled which should be the date code near the driver side head towards the front...Should also be an aluminum water pump as opposed to a cast iron pump
