Title: 1966 GT Metuchen radiator cap
Post by: ngiampetro on December 08, 2015, 05:46:41 PM
Does anyone know whether the autolite or sm caps are correct?  I've been told that the correct material is zinc.  My car currently has SM cap.  Any help will be appreciated

SM is the most widely accepted, although I have seen the AC style on Metuchen cars also... which is thought to be more common on Dearborn cars.

makes sense since that is what is on the car and it has been favorably judged by AACA

this cap is what I believe to be correct for 1966 NJ cars (non air con)......

dont think there is a accurate reproduction of this style on the market.

Pretty sure that NPD will carry the correct AC cap from their GM applications line.  It should be on their website.

Looked at them  and GM are normally 15 pound rather than the needed 13 pound.

They do have a picture and part number for a #13  marked as a RC-6 but not sure if the design matches original AC from the period we're dealing with here
