What's the correct mounting for driver and passenger size sport mirrors?
Is it nut-serts on both sides, or did the passenger side just use screws...
-
I would say with reasonable confidence if the car came with sport mirrors from the factory it would have the nut inserts the same as the driver side. Even if for some reason the car did not come with them I would install them anyway as a thin sheet metal screw is not going to hold the mirror on for long.
-
To use the original mounting machine screws that were used for mounting these mirrors a nut-sert needed to be mounted in the door. These specific screws have four additional "hash marks" between the Phillips screw depressions
Sorry that they are not more visible in this picture

You might wish to check the Library under topic "Mustang Hardware Spreadsheets 69-70" and open spreadsheet file "MHW69-70AP01.xls". This file lists the hardware by Location-Application and under "Mirror. . . " you find the part numbers and descriptions.

Don't think I've seen the S on many originals (might be a different vendor)
Will dig out the hand full I've got in one of the organizers at the show and take a picture.
