8" Differntial paint & machining
« on: May 09, 2014, 08:26:45 PM »
I used the search function to find photos of how the painted and machined surfaces should look on the 8" differential. Unfortunately my PC could not load and view the photos.  I would appreciate it if someone could post a few photos of a concours 8" differential.  I know that the center section should be red oxide but I am uncertain as to the machined surfaces or the finish of the bolts and washers.  Thanks!

Don't keep pictures of restored cars. More often than not they are an interpretation of what some one saw,  remembers or borrowed/stole from someone else's car or a magazine :(

Green arrows- face of pinion bearing retainer
Red arrows- face of rear end housing
Blue arrow- drivers side half moon
Purple arrow- passenger side half moon
Yellow arrow- face of third member housing

Nuts in zinc or cad

Pinion bearing retainer bolts I've always finished them a darkened natural
