Topic: How do you protect bare metal from rust?

Just finished blasting my front spindles and wanted to preserve the fresh look. I used Eastwood Satin Clear and they came out looking like silver paint. Not what I was looking for! What are you using that protects yet, looks like bare steel?

For micro oil surface protection most use Bioshield or Corrosion X at this time I believe

To add to Jeff's suggestions I would like to bring up the fact that a freshly blasted spindle will have a different look then a assemblyline one which i can only assume is the look you are striving for. A undisturbed spindle is typically a darker heat treated steel . Many use gun bluing ,zinc phosphate ,paint ,along with some machining or a combination of them to get the desired look. You might find some threads on that process too while you are searching. We have discussed it here before. Bob

+1 with Bob's comments if you have blasted them then you get to recolor and refinish them then lastly protect them from rust

What products will work best to protect a new, bare metal, driveshaft?  I have used Boe Shield on suspension parts but the driveshaft has a different finish; is there something that may be better to preserve the paint stripes and look? TIA

Don't believe the driveline is that different - same cast metal ends - just the pipe but its still just metal. You have paint marks on the suspension like the driveline so no difference there either. Often metal pipes are oiled or waxed to protect the virgin metal from surface rust - no one wants to by new rusty metal   so strip the stuff on it off and apply your favorite protective oil over the metal once its clean - if you purchased a "new" driveline with marks I'm sure they stripped the oils off before the striped the pipe in at least that area

has anyone had experience with Rust Prevention Magic that NPD has in their catalog?  Seems kind of pricey but if it works, it's worth it.

I have used the rust preventive magic. I didn't like it & did not last as advertised. May have been me but have best luck with Bioshield & similar products.
