As a continued, long term, effort to document 67 running changes and when they likely took place during 1967 production at San Jose. As the title states this thread we're looking at the mounting holes left unused and plugged originally stamped in the radiator support metal panel on both the passenger and drivers side. The first version was a horizontal hole that on Cougars was used to attach a sheet metal panel than made up part of the front end. On later versions the hole shape changed to a somewhat square hole in about the same location.
In a related thread about the hole plug doe the oval version of the stamped hole we had a number of examples but the main focus was on the plug and not the hole change itself.
http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=16047.0I did add the information posted in that thread to my spread sheet and data points and we did have a pretty strong finding again.
To illustrate the difference between the first version and the second or latest version I offer the pictures found below.

As usual examples were placed in a spread sheet with VINs, real assembly and projected build dates as well as the condition of the example and the results are as follows. As expected we ended up with a few orphans (single examples in a collection or range with the opposite findings). As expected allot of radiator supports have been replaced and these orphans likely represent that fact.
Latest real assembly date found with the early, oval, style March 2 1967
Earliest real assembly date found with the later, square with notch style was finished on March 8 1967
