1968 paper tag
« on: September 17, 2019, 07:01:28 PM »
Looking for someone that has seen this square paper tag on a 1968 NJ assembly built car...
I have documented several, but its not intact in any of those photos

Looks like the size and location of inspection stickers used in Dearborn.  But the 67 and 68 pics of unrestored cars that I have show New Jersey inspectors using the rubber stamp like San Jose.

Will go back and look at what I may have on the subject.

Any pattern on the cars with the remnants?

Maybe this is another - "lets try this like Dearborn" test that didn't last or make the cut. Have a similar detail on a group of 69 San Jose cars.

No patterns, it appears to be the same size as the Dearborn inspector stamp.

The paint inspector stampings are all intact on these cars. So this is something additional.

My examples are all Shelbys, but I cant confirm its a Shelby only thing.

Will post more examples when I find them

I have seen them before but typically only torn paper or adhesive remains.

This one is a little harder to see, but I do see it on the cowl. Just to the right of the hood hinge. Rare photo taken by original owner of this KR...
