69 mustang firewall pad and cowl insulation photos
« on: August 21, 2017, 04:27:38 PM »
I know these pieces are extremely hard to find and rare, so may be someone would be kind enough to take photos of each completely (out of car would be the best) and can send them to me. That way I can try and fix my pad and possible make the cowl insulation myself from the photos. Thanks for your help.

1696 with A/C. You can see that the part left of the steering column is not in the photos as it separated. The upper insulation just disintegrated.

I have since cleaned and repaired the pad using a rubber type truck bed liner spray.

Hope this helps.
Accurate looking but not a Concours Restoration/build. See my build photo gallery at 69GT350 Hertz Build

I used Search to find this with some good photos of the insulation;

Can't recall ever seeing a cowl cover/insulation removed in one piece successfully. Would suggest that you make a pattern with craft paper, transfer to the fiberglass material, then attach a trash bag (cut open) to the fiberglass then cut it out and attach it to the car. At least that is what I've done.

Sorry don't have a picture of a firewall pad out of a car. Is there a specific area you  need to do repairs on. Maybe we can offer shots of those areas to help.  Ther were a couple of different suppliers so the look differs but that is likely not an issue except in attempting to copy those details in the final product.

NOTE: Moving this thread to the discussion area since this is less of a wanted (for a part) thread than a discussion thread ;)

Since the DS is usually the problem area for these firewall pads, here are some pictures of an unrestored 160K mile (!) Metuchen car.
