Working on a concours resto of the above mentioned mustang born 5/31/67 also PDB and a 3.50 open RE. No build sheet and no original markings from po's prior resto. Rear springs stamped C7ZA 5556AS 33OEC6. Looking for any input on ANY typical factory markings to include 1) FRONT SPRINGS 2) REAR SPRINGS 3) PS SETUP 4) PITMAN ARM 5) REAREND MARKINGS 5) CHASSIS MARKINGS 6) INSPECTOR STAMPS ETC. Looking for typical( seen on many original cars) of that assembly period and plant. Any photos would also be appreciated Thanks Lu

Guessing this might/is a Thermactor equipped car?


1) FRONT SPRINGS - I do not have any examples from a car such as yours with Thermactor or San Jose 67 s code Buildsheets.



2) REAR SPRINGS - springs stamped C7ZA-5556- AS 33OEC6 Thanks for providing the rear spring engineering number. This is a good example where it really helps to have this since Ford documents shows a different spring as being what was used on this application. Here is an example of the paint mark found on a rear spring marked C7ZA-AS. Looks like one Orange & one White. Buildsheets back up this finding





3) PS SETUP -  Are you asking about pump, hoses control valve? For these pieces and the ram I've never found a paint mark I believe was original to those items other than markings on the hoses (bulk rubber hose markings by the provider) Now the PS center link was often marks as shown below




4) PITMAN ARM - Painted stripe around the arm in a medium yellow  - midway between the two holes





You could also likely use the idler arm also. Same basic yellow strip - and in this case a little run of paint from its application





5) REAREND MARKINGS
- Up to maybe 20 or more are typical just got back from Mid America and will be leaving to inspect a buyers possible purchase so will have to get get back



5) CHASSIS MARKINGS
- By the later part of 67 production not allot done. You have the rotation number as has been talked about in other threads on the rear of the car, the hood and sometimes found on the radiator support.  The engine code (not all engines but was on 390's this year)  and "D" applied normally in one off three locations depending on the shift and the worker.


6) INSPECTOR STAMPS   -By that point in the year San Jose most paint inspectors had transisitioned into the 67 style of paint inspector markings and they were starting to (some of them ) start using the 69 name style.  The fonts are no longer available and must (IMHO to get them right) be hand redrawen)

Typical location would be inspector #1 (not the real marking just to provide an example) would stamp the unibody on the cowl below the hood weatherstrip on the passenger end while inspector #2 would mark the individually painted parts.  Hood in one of the upper corners, both fenders and both head light buckets. Inspectors would use typically one of three colors of ink to apply the stamps. I normally carry a small collection of these stamps (stopped carrying all of the paint inspector stamps) to major shows so that owners can get their cars stamped rather than trying (most often unsuccessfully) to copy what they see on line or on cars at shows. Lots of wrong stuff out there.  We've seen many times - if stamps are available they will be used on just about any car from any plant or year.  ::)

Thanks Jeff. This is indeed a Ca thermactor car. I'm still trying to hunt down the 67 390 smog tubes and the ps rear support bracket along with factory shortie ps lines. Any leads would be welcome Lu

No but have seem some yellow marks that look white at times - might just be faded pale yellow in the pictures

I'm told by my wife that my socks should match shoes most of the time :)  Sorry had to   ::)

Front and rear shocks would have a brown daub on each - posted a picture in a 68 GT suspension thread last week or so
